COMMERCIAL

ARB Caloundra

KSD was enlisted to transform the aging commercial buildings on the site into ARB Caloundra’s new Flagship store. Located on one of the Sunshine Coast busiest roads the new flagship store sits proudly on the site with its eye-catching façade in ARB’s bold corporate colours. The development incorporates a new showroom, workshop and warehouse together with extensive vehicle parking and landscaping across the site.

With project costs and environmental sustainability a key consideration most of the existing building structure, roof and shop front glazing were retained. A brand-new workshop building was constructed with increased capacity to improve operations, accommodate the growing business and maximising street exposure

Inside, the open and flexible showroom is designed to allow the staff to customise their space, whereas the workshop and warehouse spaces are designed for functionality, efficiency and safety. New amenities and staff lunch rooms have been provided in both the showroom building and workshop. The warehouse utilises an existing building with direct access to the workshop for operational efficiency

INDUSTRIAL

BFX Global Distribution Centre

BFX Furniture is a locally owned family company manufacturing and supplying office and school furniture both nationally and internationally. BFX had outgrown their current premises and needed a new distribution facility that met the demanding needs of their growing business.

KSD worked closely with the BFX Team to custom design their new landmark distribution facility which would improve their processing and distribution efficiencies, ensure adequate circulation for freight vehicles and maintain links to their existing neighbouring warehouses and factories

This project involved the design of a 7,000sqm distribution building with direct links to the their existing neighbouring warehouses and factories. In addition to the distribution building the project included a three storey 1800sqm warehouse and administration building and over 6,000sqm of hardstand areas.

The distribution building consists of five connected buildings with a central transport corridor for the efficient distribution to loading areas. Offices, meeting spaces and staff amenities are also provided in each building.

Maximising the site area use whilst ensuring efficient heavy vehicle circulation and providing the required parking numbers were a just a few of the challenges associated with this project.

COMMERCIAL

Ken Mills Toyota, Nambour

The exciting new upgrade of Ken Mills Toyota comprised of a new customer lounge area, refurbishment of the existing showroom and a complete redesign and rebuild of the administration area. The new boardroom and staff kitchen were designed to foster team connectivity and collaboration. Extra storage was provided throughout the administration area in the form of cupboards under the planter boxes.

Working closely with the team at KMT throughout the design phase we were able to meet their workplace goals of increased natural light, fresh colour to add interest and joy, lots of plant life throughout and views to the outside for all staff.

Our design embraced environmentally sustainable materials and finishes including recycled rubber flooring from old car tyres which was used in the staff kitchen. The existing timber boardroom table, over 40 years old, was refurbished bringing it back to life.

Biophilic design was a key consideration in both the design and selection of materials. Natural light flooding open spaces, views to the outdoors, the use of natural timbers and natural plants throughout the showroom and office areas promote the health and well-being of employees and visitors.

New office furniture was provided throughout including sit-stand desks and ergonomic chairs improving staff comfort and productivity. The new flexible workstation configuration allows for future business growth and versatility.

The spaces were designed to focus on patient and staff wellbeing with particular consideration of clever storage solutions.
